Posted By admin On 26.01.20Contents. Technical imperfections Problems with this transmission are well known. This transmission locks up the torque converter in all gears, increasing wear.
Combined with a sealed transmission pan and 'lifetime fluid', some people have experienced catastrophic transmission failure. There are also problems with the valve block and solenoids. When this failure starts to occur, shift quality and speed, torque transfer and even loss of ability to engage gears can occur. These problems led to extend the warranty on all of their vehicles equipped with this transmission to 100,000 miles or 10 years.

I have never seen torque specs listed for the flex plate bolts. You might want to call Pelican Parts (1-888-280-7799) and see if they can answer that question. I would definitely use some RED Loc-Tite on those bolts. Also, if you`re installing a torque converter, make sure it`s seated all the way onto the output shaft.lube the snout of the TC, slide it gently onto the shaft while twisting/wiggling it, until you feel a 'clunk'. Rotate it some more, while pushing forward, until you feel a second clunk.this is important, you don`t want to get the whole job back together only to find out the TC is not fully seated. (Don`t ask me how I know this.
Glhx send me the same pdf file, but its old data from 1997 the 8 flywheel bolts, what are they M? I'm looking on pdf file on page 11-14 engine, 11 22 flywheel its said that torque is 120 N.m, that on 1997 bmw If there is no other definitive answer, I`m pretty sure you`d be safe using anywhere between 50 and 70 lbs./ft. With the red Loc-Tite. Remember, this is an automatic, not a stick, where the flywheel is subject to a lot more stress and abuse. The flexplate on a slushbox has an easy job by comparison.
