Title: Principal Analyst for the Process Economics Program (PEP) Summary: Develops process designs and assesses production and capital costs of chemcial production processes for our clients General Job Duties: Produce scheduled reports and reviews needed to support program commitments Participate in consulting projects as needed Develop new ideas for report topics Specific Job Duties: Write at least one PEP report per calendar year. A PEP Report is an in-depth, independent technical and economic evaluation of several chemical process technologies. Scope report b.

Patent and literature research c. Reduce information to provide design basis for process technologies to be covered in report d. Develop conceptual process designs using simulation tools e. Size require major equipent and generate capital cost estimate and operating economics for each process using in-house proprietary software, or other tools f.

Compare results against other available technologies and draw conclusions g. Presentation of work in a clear, concise report Write at least one (usually 2) PEP review(s) per calendar year. A PEP review is a report on a hot issue affecting the chemical industry.

Lead or participate in consulting projects utilizing deep understanding of chemical markets and technology, to answer specific questions for clients. For this activity the following skills are critical: a. Effective communication skills including ability to develop presentation of findings suitable for upper management review. Ability to interact with the client, either internal or external, and identify the critical elements that need to be examined form a process standpoint. Successfully participate on cross-program teams Other additional duties may include: A Conference participation/invitations to speak B Write papers for industry journals.

C Mentor and coach new employees. D Innovate E Participate in marketing events. Required Education: BS in Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience MS or MBA a plus Required Experience: 5-9 years or more in process engineering, design and/or operations. Experience in developing process simulations using AspenPlus or other tools.

Experience in cost estimation and project economics analysis. JOB REQUIREMENTS:. Four-year degree in chemical engineering or commensurate experience required. MS or MBA is a plus. 5-9 or more years experience in process design including lead position in process engineering or technology evaluation roles is expected.

Plant operations experience is a plus. Demonstrated competency developing process design using engineering simulation software preferably AspenPlus. Proficiency in developing process simulations using AspenPlus or other tools a plus. Proficiency in cost estimation a plus.

Pep Program Exercises

Experience performing process economic evaluations. Highly proficient use of internet search engines and other online technical databases for patent and literature searches is required. Excellent technical writing and presentation skills required.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently in a deadline-oriented environment. Demonstrated experience that indicates the ability to quickly learn and summarize and utilize extremely complex information. Strong interpersonal skills to be able to work on global teams. Other skills: Proficency in Microsoft Office 2007 application, primarilly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
